I was instantly drawn in to Jan’s writing and playing from the first notes of the opening track “Outward Bound”. I felt instantly transported to a place I love…the coast of Maine. Although the song titles speak of the ocean, sailing, and the outdoors, it’s the music that literally takes you there. In Jan’s bright, clear, crisp tone, you hear the sea breeze, the wind in the sails, and the sounds of a summer evening. What more can we ask of music?
Jan writes beautiful melodies. The music isn’t predictable, there are subtle twists and turns along the way that make for happy ears. Many of the tunes are rooted in Celtic music…and I absolutely love that. This is a gorgeous guitar album and should be enjoyed in its entirety, start to finish. I look forward to many listens. Highly recommended!
